CALOB HOUSE - MF
FC Roblar
187 matches, 70 points,
31 goals, 39 assists,

Many opposing managers had trouble with House during his career. He didn't put up gaudy stats like his Roblar brethren, but he was named MVP one season. Another championship caliber brick in the wall for a team with many.

68 x-11s
(14 x-11 captains),
BS31 Season MVP
An offensive juggernaut in the backfield, mainly because he was deadly with his free kick, Pingel scored 31 goals in 150 games; a superior mark for a defender. He was the Season 31 MVP in his division and led his division in goals in Season 25.
MICHEL
ZWAANSWIJK - GK
Forest Albion FC
148 matches, 84 clean sheets, 72% career save percentage, 36% career penalties save percentage,

SEASON 35 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
GAVINO MARCHIONNI - F
Rossoneri
186 matches, 88 points, 66 goals, 22 assists, 49 x-11s
Marchionni makes the HOF as a somewhat ironic for the historically defensive-minded Rossoneri. Marchionni is the Rossoneri career leader in goals (66) and was a key striker for the red & black.
JAE MOO KYEUNG - MF
Delirium FC
190 matches, 60 points, 28 goals, 32 assists,
50 x-11s
A longtime cog in the pink elephant midfield. Kyeung racked up nearly 200 games played and helped lead Delirium to the club's one and only title. Retired early at just age 32 to pursue a career in the music industry.
TERENCE
MCGOVERN - MF
Forest Albion FC
219 matches, 131 points, 86 goals, 45 assists, 70 x-11s
McGovern, aka "Big Mac," played a remarkable 20 seasons with Forest Albion, from the time he was 16 years of age. McGovern is currently the all-time BSL points leader with 131. Mac never won a division MVP vote but finished as either the top goal scorer or the leader in points 7 times. He ranks 2nd on the team in matches played, goals and assists.
JESUS-MARIA HORCAJADA - D
FC Camus
161 matches, 15 points, 5 goals, 10 assists, 59 x-11s (17 caps)
"The Jesus," was the first ever player exchanged in the now-failed BSL draft system. Still, as part of the Camus restoration project, Horcajada won the MVP three times and finished in the top 3 on three other occasions. His stats do not amount to much on either historic squad, but collectively there have been few players who were more productive in the backfield. Camus' recovery was greatly aided by Horcajada's guidance.
MAURIO PIRELLI - GK
Rossoneri
223 matches, 108 clean sheets, 70% career save %, 105 x-11s (46 caps)
Perhaps the greatest keeper in Big Soccer League history. Of his 223 matches, the man kept opponents from scoring nearly half of the time. Second only to Abraham Wilcox in all-time X-11s, there was simply no one better in net than Pirelli. He nearly single-handedly delivered its two titles and managed to claim 3 MVPs in his BSL tenure as well.
SEASON 36 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
ELIOTT RIDINGS - F
Venetian Reds
119 matches, 94 points, 75 goals, 19 assists, 58 x-11s
The first franchise player for the Venetian Reds, "E-R" sent many opposing teams to the hospital with broken hearts because of his play. Ridings led the Western Division in scoring or points ten times in his career. Often deadly on the set piece, Ridings is, by far, the career-leader in Venetian history in points and goals. In his final season, Ridings scored four times and led the club to its first-ever division championship.
OLE GUNNAR HØGMO - MF
New Belgium FC
148 matches, 69 points, 23 goals, 46 assists, 41 x-11s
The 'Old Gunner' was the playmaker in the holy trinity midfield joined by Lucas Roudier, Sorrell Bourquin for New Belgium FC. Hogmo led the division in assists three times in his career.
CONNOR SALINAS - MF
FC Roblar
139 matches, 18 points, 6 goals, 12 assists, 82 x-11s (45 captains)
Salinas likely could have been the best midfielder Big Soccer has ever seen. The true measure of his career will never be known because he was transfer listed by FC Roblar before the start of Season 35 while still in his early 30s, instead of retiring with the club. Never a points man, Salinas had the intangibles to win, racking up an astonishing 82 x-11s, including 45 captainships.
KIRK DALE - D
Tatfield FC
172 matches, 17 points, 5 goals, 12 assists, 60 x-11s
The first true defensive star for the black and blue, Dale leads the Tatfield record books with 172 matches played. Dale's defensive presence and leadership finally paid off at the end of his career when he helped lead Tatfield to multiple division titles.
ABRAHAM WILCOX - D
221 matches, 31 points, 6 goals, 25 assists, 118 x-11s, (42 captains)
Wilcox suited up for the powder blue and red for an astonishing 21 seasons. Until the last season of his career he was the reigning Western Division MVP, claiming the last 7 straight MVP titles. Wilcox leads Forest in matches played as well. Simply the heart of the Forest defense and a part of all four of Forest Albion's championship teams. His 118 x-11s is also a BSL record.
SEASON 37 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
TORBEN KELM - F
Camus in Goal FC
205 matches, 91 points, 68 goals, 23 assists
The original Camus striker. At the time of his induction, Kelm led the Philosophers in career-goals scored and was second in points. Kelm was a feared force on the pitch in the early days of the BSL; and helped deliver Camus' only championship to date.
PERRY VAN SHRIKE
- MF
Delirium FC
206 matches, 96 points, 46 goals, 50 assists, 79 x-11s (13 captainships)
Van Shrike was Delirium FC's all-time points and assists leader at the time of his induction. Van Shrike made history as the BSL's first openly gay player. PVS took up the DFC franchise player mantle from the departed Vanilla Ice. He helped deliver DFC's lone championship, finished second in MVP voting three times, led his division in assists twice and points once. Following his career on the pitch, Van Shrike pursued a career in private investigation.
PAT ANDERSON - D
Delirium FC
193 matches, 66 points, 51 goals, 15 assists, 20 x-11s
A supremely talented defender with a nose for the back of the net. Anderson finished 2nd in scoring twice in his Northern Division career. For Delirium, at the time of his retirement, Anderson was 4th all-time in matches played, 3rd in points, and is still the all-time leader in goals scored. Following his career on the pitch, Anderson became a sports executive, landing a job as the assistant to the assistant GM for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball organization.
MARTIJN BROUWER - D
Rossoneri
193 matches, 21 points, 4 goals, 17 assists, 74 x-11s
A first-ballot Hall-of-famer, Brouwer was an incredibly durable defender for the Rossoneri. King Browser nearly netted 200 matches in his career. Additionally, Brouwer finished 2nd or 3rd in MVP voting four times. Brouwer also ranks 4th all-time in Rossoneri history with 74 x-11s, during his remarkable 19-year career.
LOWELL ALSTON - GK
Forest Albion FC
200 matches
On his last chance for eligibility to the BSL Hall-of-Fame, Alston found a way to get elected. The Forest Albion keeper was always had a flair for the dramatic and could be nearly impossible to score on during matches. Due to shoddy record-keeping in the early BSL days, Alston's statistics have been lost forever.
SEASON 38 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
AIDEN NIELSON - F
Anfield Junkyard Dawgs
189 matches, 128 points, 111 goals, 17 assists,
65-x11s (1 captain)
Mr. Longevity for Tatfield FC and later the Anfield Junkyard Dawgs, Nielson played 20 seasons and retires as the BSL All-time leading goal scorer with 111 goals. Nielson was a top scorer in six of his 20 seasons, yet finished third in MVP voting just once. When it comes to putting the ball in the net, no one has ever done it more than Nielson.
AMBROGIO OBBEDIO
- MF
Rossoneri
251 matches, 107 points, 47 goals, 60 assists, 99 x-11 (22 captains)
Obbedio retires as the BSL single-season leader in assists (11). That same season Obbedio was named Central Division MVP. Obbedio led his division in assists three times, currently ranks third on the BSL points list of active players, and came just four assists shy of tying Murilo Ferer's all-time BSL career assist mark. Obbedio also leads the Rossoneri record books in matches played (251)
JEREMY LISTON - D
Gundas FC
200 matches, 20 points, 2 goals, 18 assists
Rock-solid Gundas defender played a double-century (200 games) while collecting 20 points. The league no-longer records historic Xpert Eleven awards, but he had quite a few. He was a legend for the club. Liston's younger brother, Timmy, made a name for himself with Vandelay Industries of the X-11 International series.
PARKER HEGGS - D
Atlético Jersey
155 matches, 42 points, 26 goals, 16 assists, 74 x-11s (21 captains)
Known for his rough-and-tumble style, Heggs finished high in the bookings category several seasons in the Eastern Division, and was also named the season 36 Eastern Division MVP. Heggs will likely be first in Atletico Jersey history in matches played, sixth in points, third in goals scored, fifth in assists and first in X-11 appearances. Parker's strong back line play has kept Jersey in contention for years.
AISHA SUHAYB - GK
Cassino FC
207 matches, 80 clean sheets, 69% career save %, 63 x-11s, 10 captains
Often overlooked because he wasn't even the best keeper in his division most seasons behind Rossoneri's Pirelli. Still, Suhayb was as good as there has been in BSL in net.
SEASON 39 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
RICK GONZALEZ - F
Reno FC
179 matches, 99 points, 85 goals, 14 assists,
47 x-11s (4 captains)
Gonzalez, or RG1, was a three-time Eastern Division top scorer and the franchise cornerstone for FC Carolina (who later relocated and became Reno FC). Gonzalez was sold to Carolina/Reno from FC Roblar as part of the X-11 draft. Gonzalez's early impact propelled his downtrodden franchise into the playoffs and set his club up for long-term success.
THEOBALD RIDER - MF
Forest Albion FC
221 matches, 87 points, 37 goals, 50 assists,
54 x-11s
Rider suited up for the sky blue and red for 20 seasons. Rider was named to the X-11 team 11 times in season 34, but somehow managed to be snubbed for what would have been his only MVP. The consummate definition of reliability, Rider's 221 appearances are just nine shy of the all-time Forest Albion mark at the time of his induction.
DREW ASHTON - MF
Havoc
81 matches, 51 points,
31 goals, 20 assists,
20 x-11s
A rare "Legends Exception" to Hall of Fame voting, Ashton did not suit up for his club the minimum 100 times for consideration. However, Ashton's career in just eight seasons mirrored that of a shooting star. Ashton led the brutal Southern Division twice in scoring, once in assists and once in points. Ashton averaged 0.63 points/match and made the X-11 squad 1 out of every 4 times.
He is Havoc's all-time leader in points and assists at the time of his induction.
JULES WINNFIELD - D
Delirium FC
207 matches, 17 points, 4 goals, 13 assists, 52 x-11s (4 captains)
After learning of the death of his friend, Vincent Vega, the man from Inglewood decided to head to Europe and give football a try. Two-hundred-seven matches later, Winnfield left Delirium in much better shape than he found it, as a club champion and elite BSL franchise. Winnfield was known for his aggressive, no-nonsense style of play and retires as the club's leader in matches played.
FELICIANO ROSSITTO - GK
Goldstrikers 80
156 matches, 81 clean sheets, 75% career save pct., 23 x-11s
Feliciano Rossitto, aka "The Happy Man," was known for his capitaving smile on the pitch. The Goldstrikers keeper had incredibly solid career with 81 clean sheets. He also stopped three quarters of the shots he faced, further adding to the Goldstrikers tradition of solid defensive play. Rossitto was the centerpiece of that defense for 17 seasons.
SEASON 50 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
WALT BRIGHTWELL - F
Bluenoses FC
203 matches, 79 points,
69 goals, 10 assists, 89 x-11s
Brightwell's numbers are gaudy, no doubt. He played 203 combined matches with FC Roblar and Bluenoses FC, leaving the Green for the Blue after season 44. In season 44, he captured the Southern division MVP award. Brightwell, a victim of the BSL draft, would likely rank higher in Roblar or Bluenoses record books if he had spent all his time with one club. Even still, his numbers are pretty unparalleled.
ADAM BRADSHAW - MF
West Dulwich Cricket Club
219 matches, 105 points,
53 goals, 52 assists, 35 x-11s
Many years a member of Reno FC, Adam Bradshaw is the definition of a franchise player for the West Dulwich Cricket Club. Bradshaw is the club's all-time leader in matches played, points and assists. He also ranks second in goals and x-11 appearances. Without Bradshaw's steady hand (and foot) in the midfield, the Cricketers would not have had such success or as easy a transition in the move across the pond.
CESAR FRYE - MF
Anfield Junkyard Dawgs
210 matches, 109 points,
66 goals, 43 assists, 64 x-11s
Hail Cesar! Cesar Frye played an astonishing 22 seasons for the Anfield Junkyard Dawgs. During that time, he led his division in goals scored and points three times. Frye also led the division in assists twice. The ultimate franchise cornerstone, Frye is the franchise leader in matches played and assists. He is also second in points, goals scored and x-11s, all behind all-time BSL leading scorer Aiden Nielson.
CLAUDE TASSEL - D
FC Camus
186 matches, 15 points,
3 goals, 12 assists, 74 x-11s
Tassel was the season 48 Western division MVP, in addition to being an MVP runner-up two other times. In a long line of Camus legends, Tassel ranks 6th in all-time appearances and 1st in X-11 appearances, although those records only started to be kept after many Camus legends had already retired. Still, Camus likely would have been a division doormat if not for Tassel's play on the back line for nearly twenty seasons.
SEASON 51 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
DARRIN THOMPSON - F
Delirium FC
177 matches, 84 points,
64 goals, 20 assists, 68 x-11s
Thompson played 21 seasons for the pink and blue. Thompson's 64 goals are tied for 2nd in club history, just three off the all-time franchise lead at the time of his retirement. Following his playing career, Thompson plans to enter into the music industry, under the stage name "Feenix Black." He always enjoys stopping at O'Hare Airport in Chicago and getting Chinese food.
DORIAN KNOX - MF
FC Roblar/FCUQ
230 matches, 68 points,
25 goals, 43 assists, 89 x-11s
Knox may not have the raw numbers of other players, especially given his high match count, but Knox was consistently among the best midfielders in the game during his time in the BSL. He appeared in the x-11 nearly 40-percent of the time he took the field. For all of his x-11 appearances, perhaps somewhat ironically, Knox never captured a division MVP, claiming runner-up honors three different times. Knox also led his division in assists twice.
ZACHARIAS GAWELIN - D
Tres Gringos
167 matches, 24 points,
5 goals, 19 assists, 61 x-11s
Sold after just 167 matches at the age of 35, Gawelin was an incredible defender for Tres Gringos. A feared man in the Gringos backfield, Gawelin made the X-11 team nearly 37-percent of the time he played. His 61 x-11 appearances and 17 captains are club records dating back to the period when such records were kept. Gawelin would often have more captains in a season than any other player, but by my records, he never managed to capture an MVP title.
JAKE GREER - GK
FC Roblar
102 matches, 53 x-11s
(3 captains)
The sentimental favorite. Until his induction Greer had been on the ballot for more than 10 seasons. Greer was another victim of early transfer, Greer was a part of multiple Roblar title runs but was sold following multiple years of Roblar being raided by the BSL Draft. When he was on, along with the vaunted Roblar defense, he was nearly impossible to beat. He made the X-11 in more than half of the matches he played in.
SEASON 52 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
DWAYNE ZACHAMORE - F
Delirium FC
161 matches, 114 points,
83 goals, 31 assists, 44 x-11s
Dwayne 'Mr. October' Zachamore played 18 seasons for the pink and blue. During his career, he led his division in goals scored five times and in overall points four times. Zachamore retires as Delirium's all-time leader in goals scored and just three points shy of the all-time franchise mark for points. Despite his prolific scoring touch, Zachamore managed only 44 x-11 appearances, far outside of Delirium's top 10 all-time, and he never captured a division MVP crown. Zachamore was forced into early retirement after scandalous photos surfaced of Zachamore posing for a male adult modeling calendar early in his professional career.
OCTAVIAN DUDULA - MF
Venetian Reds
212 matches, 133 points, 74 goals, 59 assists, 75 x-11s (5 captains)
'Doc' Octavian 'The Dud' Dudula is likely one of the few BSL competitors ever dubbed with two nicknames by the media; that's perhaps quite fitting, as Dudula was so prolific, opponents likely felt as if they were seeing two of him on the pitch at the same time. Dudula led his division in points four times and led his division in goals and assists two times each. He is also the franchise leader in points and assists and ranks third in club history in matches played and goals scored. Following his retirement, Dudula plans to live comfortably on an unknown island after signing a long-term advertising deal with Milk Duds candy.
LIENTUR HORCAJADA - D
Evolution City
216 matches, 27 points, 9 goals, 18 assists, 105 x-11s,
(52 captains)
Perhaps one of the greatest defenders to play in Big Soccer League history. Horcajada was the youngest defender on those classic Fort Ripley Bearcats clubs more than a decade ago. He retires with three division MVPs to his name, and finished 2nd three more times. Horcajada managed a spot in the x-11 almost half of the time he took the pitch, and a quarter of the time he played he was the best player or x-11 captain, in his series. His 216 matches, 105 x-11s and 52 captainships are all franchise records.
SEASON 53 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
MARIO PANZER - F
Venetian Reds
203 matches, 86 points,
63 goals, 23 assists,
51 x-11s
Mario 'the tank' Panzer, was a constantly marked man for the Reds. Supreme intelligence helped the striker to 86 points, fourth all-time for the franchise. Panzer was always the bridesmaid, never the bride when it came to league records; he finished 2nd in league scoring three times, leading the league just once. Still, his numbers and aggressive style of play, often known to run over his opponents 'like a Panzer tank,' speak for themselves.
ROMUALD POSPIESZALSKI - F
City Islanders FC
130 matches, 48 points,
36 goals, 12 assists, 103 x-11s
(9 Captains)
There are simply few players like Pospieszalski that ever grace the BSL pitch. For the better part of his career, Romuald was the most skilled forward in all of Big Soccer. Born to an Italian mother and a Polish father, the 3-time BSL division MVP also led his division in goals scored twice, despite almost routinely being marked in matches. Pospieszalski came to the league via transfer at age 23, part of the reason his stats were not as gaudy as they could have been. Still, he managed an x-11 appearance in a remarkable 79-percent of the matches he played in. He retires as the club's all-time leader in X-11 appearances.
WILL MCANULTY - MF
Delirium FC
233 matches, 86 points,
39 goals, 47 assists,
84 x-11s (2 captains)
Perhaps one of the most annoying players in BSL history, Will McAnulty hung on like grim death in the Delirium lineup, playing to age 39 before retiring. In 23 seasons with the club, the fabled neckbeard managed to climb to the top of the franchise list for matches played and also tallied the 2nd most X-11 appearances. He did lead the league in points in season 38 and finished runner-up for MVP voting twice.
NEILL GREENACRE - D
Venetian Reds
222 matches, 33 points,
12 goals, 21 assists,
119 x-11s (25 captains)
Talk about a phenomenal career! Greenacre was a 2-time MVP and also finished runner-up in MVP voting six times. Greenacre's matches played are a franchise-best and his X-11 appearances likely would be too, if not for the fact that he's 10 behind the all-time league leader in fellow Red, Duane Hills. Greenacre was an instrumental figure in both of the Reds championship runs of season 45 and season 47. There would be no Duane Hills without Neill Greenacre.
SEASON 54 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
BOBBY MOSS - F
Gundas FC
238 matches, 159 points,
127 goals, 32 assists,
108 x-11s
(1 captain)
A rolling stone gathers no moss, but a Moss chance almost always finds the net. What else can be said about the BSL's all-time leader in points AND goals. Moss simply knew how to score - better and more often than any player in BSL history to date. The Season 51 Northern MVP led his division in goals six times and total points four times. His prolific scoring was only equaled by his near unparalleled longevity; he suited-up for 21 seasons with the Goons.
Moss had countless episodes of regular and postseason heroics and he was perhaps the biggest factor in delivering two BSL titles to the Gundas faithful.
ZAKAY AYALA - MF
Evolution City
200 matches,
88 points,
43 goals, 45 assists, 58 x-11s
Ayala was one of the last remnants of the a club that was once dominant as the Fort Ripley Bearcats. At the time of his retirement, Ayala was the club's all-time leader in matches played and assists. In his glory days, Ayala was part of the 'fierce five' of Fort Ripley/Evolution City consistent of himself, Feng Chiu, Frank Burnham, Filiberto Tristán and Lientur Horcajada, that franchise won a record 30+ consecutive regular season matches from season 41-44.
AMBROSIO VIEIRA DE JESUS - MF
FC Roblar (FCBB)
221 matches,
83 points,
35 goals, 48 assists, 78 x-11s (22 captains)
Vieira de Jesus has quite an interesting name. The Ambrosio is the masculine form of "ambrosia" the food of the Gods. Meanwhile, Vieira is the Portuguese word for "scallop." Quite literally translated, his name means "Food of the Gods, Scallop of Jesus."
The man of a hundred names and a thousand moves was nearly omnipresent on the pitch for FC Roblar and later FC Borussia Berlin. De Jesus was a captain in the x-11 a quarter of the time he took the pitch. Despite a shortened career with FCR (he was sold following a successful Roblar cup run), de Jesus still ranks tied for third in career appearances for FCR and third in franchise assists at the time of his retirement.
ALFONS SUNDQVIST - D
Gundas FC
251 matches,
32 points,
8 goals, 24 assists, 109 x-11s
(17 captains)
The star child; the sunburst, the big swede. Alfons Sundqvist went by many names during his 22 seasons in Big Soccer. He came into the league with high expectations and leaves as one of his club's all-time greats. During his tenure, Sundqvist captured 3 MVP titles and finished as a runner-up five more times. He retires as the Gundas career leader in matches played and X-11 appearances. Most importantly. Sundqvist delivered two BSL Cup titles to the Gundas fanbase, and for that, above all else, he will never be forgotten.
JOOP ROOF - D
Genesee Screamers
210 matches, 54 points,
35 goals, 19 assists,
51 x-11s
(2 captains)
The BSL hall of fame was created for players like Joop Roof.
Roof was a playmaking wing-back from the moment he joined the league in season 35. Roof played 20 seasons for the green and white, earning MVP honors in season 48 and a BSL title in season 46. As the Screamers most talented player, he faced near constant markings from the opposition. He retires as the Screamers' all-time leader in appearances and x-11s, and he's also third in points and goals despite playing in the backfield. Roof scored a point and tallied an x-11 appearance nearly a quarter of the time he touched the pitch. You could say The Roof was almost always on fire.
BERNT CIZEK - D FC Borussia Berlin
158 matches, 35 points,
5 goals, 30 assists,
78 x-11s
(15 captains)
The Blues defender notched an x-11 appearance nearly half of the time he took the field. The two-time division MVP ranks 2nd all-time in Borussia Berlin x-11 appearances and x-11 captainships. When strikers came into the Borussia backfield, let's just say they got Bernt...a lot.
SEASON 55 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
HANS-OVE MIKKELSSON - F
FC Roblar
188 matches, 74 points,
58 goals, 16 assists,
71 x-11s (1 Captain)
A rare Roblar legacy (or rather a player who managed to play their whole career in green without being nabbed in the BSL draft), Mikkelsson had quite a prolific career for FC Roblar. The notorious H-O-M led his division in points and goals in season 51 with a 10 goal campaign. To date, his 58 goals place him 6th all-time in club history and his 70 x-11 appearances also rank in the top ten.
ROBBIE SINCLAIR - MF
Gundas FC
234 matches, 88 points,
46 goals, 42 assists, 72 x-11s
(34 Captains)
There are not enough superfluous adjectives to describe Sinclair, the latest Gundas hall-of-fame shoo-in. Sinclair retires after 19 seasons, still at the top of his game. His 19 skill bars are two more than the next highest players currently in the BSL. Furthermore, Sinclair's 19 skill is higher than that of BSL legend Duane Hills, who topped out at 18 skill during his dominant career. Simply put, according to the league offices, Sinclair is the most talented player the BSL has ever seen. Having said that, you might find it interesting to note that Sinclair never won a BSL MVP award in 19 seasons. He led his division in points and assists just once each, and his points and assist totals barely crack the Gundas all-time top 5. With that in mind, was his career a disappointment? Not if you're counting championships. With Sinclair on the field (usually taking a marking) Gundas won two BSL titles, and nearly captured a third.
JOHANNES WENDEL - D
Havoc
206 matches, 17 points,
4 goals, 13 assists, 94 x-11s
(20 Captains)
Johannes 'The Viking' Wendel ends a terrific career this season after leading Havoc to 7 division titles in the last eight seasons and a top overall seed in the Season 55 BSL Playoffs. Wendel won a Season 53 MVP award and finished as a runner-up or 2nd runner-up in MVP voting four other times. The Big German's 94 x-11 appearances and 20 captainships are both club records - and are just an example of how dominant a force Wendel has been in the Southern Division for the last decade.
REGGIE STONEBREW - GK
San Diego Beer Company
182 matches,
62 clean sheets,
67% career save pct., 59 x-11s
(19 captains)
Stonebrew just sounds like a fitting name for an excellent keeper, doesn't it? Reggie clearly lived up to his name, tallying an x-11 appearance and a clean sheet in a third of the matches he played. Stonebrew stopped two-thirds of the shots he faced and was a vital part of the San Diego Beer Company's two trips to the finals in season 45 and season 48.
SEASON 56 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
ROLAND TOLSA - F
West Dulwich Cricket Club
150 matches, 84 points,
65 goals, 19 assists, 37 x-11s
Roland 'the Holy Roller' Tolsa quietly tallied more goals than any player in Cricketers' history. At the time of his retirement, Tolsa also finished 2nd in club points. Known for his deft chips in the box, Tolsa led his division in goals and points twice. Following his career, Tolsa signed a lucrative endorsement deal with Rolaids antacids. Roland asks you, "How do you spell scoring relief?"
FREDDY HENRY - MF
Atletico Jersey
215 matches, 91 points,
54 goals, 37 assists,
51 x-11s (7 Captains)
Oh Henry! After 22 seasons of glory in Jersey, the talented midfielder is hanging it up. Henry led his division in scoring three times. Known for his devastatingly powerful hard shot, at the time of his nomination, Henry is the franchise leader in matches played, points and assists. He also ranks second in goals scored and 4th in X-11 appearances. Not bad for a guy who didn't improve as a 17-4 after his first change report.
TOMMI JONASON - D
West Dulwich Cricket Club
247 matches, 28 points,
11 goals, 17 assists, 96 x-11s (26 captains)
Jonason wore forest green proudly for 22 seasons. During the later part of his career, he simply dominated the UK Division, especially when it came to MVP voting. Between Seasons 45 and 53, Jonason was a 3-time BSL MVP. He also finished as a runner up in voting six times over that stretch. A phenomenal header and goal scorer, the 'Sweet Swede' could really do it all.
JAN HENRION - GK
West Dulwich Cricket Club
190 matches, 86 clean sheets,
71% career save pct.,
13% career penalties save pct., 60 x-11s (2 Captains)
The backbone of the West Dulwich defense, you simply couldn't get a header by Jan 'Heavenly' Henrion. He was so good in the air, one sportswriter once wrote that its as if he could go all the way to Heaven to pull balls out of the sky. Henrion finished as a runner-up in MVP voting twice. Season 50 wasn't one of those years, but it was a good year for the keeper; He finished with a 91% save percentage on the season and recorded 8 clean sheets in 12 tries.
SEASON 57 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
GUS DELLAS- F
Tres Gringos
151 matches, 72 points,
58 goals, 14 assists, 42 x-11s
Gus Dellas sounds more like a Texas Oil tycoon than a footballer, but he was a mainstay up front for Tres Gringos for the last 18 seasons. Dellas finished among the top 3 in goals in his division, five times in his career. Dellas' retires 7th all-time in club points and 4th all-time in club goals.
JELLE VLIER- MF
Venetian Reds
213 matches, 72 points,
37 goals, 35 assists, 80 x-11s (1 captain)
Vlier, the Dutchman, was an incredibly unheralded attacking wing on the VR squad for 19 seasons. By almost every statistical measure, Vlier ranks in or near the top five for his club. Vlier has 80 x-11s in 213 matches; quite impressive.
HOLLAND OATES - D
Delirium FC
246 matches, 30 points,
4 goals, 26 assists, 94 x-11s (20 captains)
Born to a Las Vegas cocktail waitress in the back of a Gentleman's club, he was named Holland Oates, by his mother, who thought the duo of Darryl Hall and John Oates, was in fact, one person, named "Holland Oates." For more than two decades, Oates was an absolute Maneater as a Delirium defender. Making dreams come true for Delirium fans, Oates was often so intimidating, he could cause opposing strikers to turn back with his consistent stare and private eyes. Goals in the net? He couldn't go for that. The all-time Delirium leader in appearances; second in club x-11s, now he's gone, and Delirium would likely pay the devil to replace him.
SEASON 58 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
DEMETRIO TURATO- F
FC Borussia Berlin
176 matches, 50 points,
42 goals, 8 assists, 61 x-11s (2 captains)
Turato FINALLY made it in the Hall after what was likely 20 seasons on the ballot! (Although BSL records can't confirm). He was known as "the turret" and could score from anywhere on the pitch. Turato was the BSL Southern Division MVP in Season 30. At the time of his retirement, Turato was 2nd in Blues history in matches played, goals and x-11 appearances, as well as 3rd in points.
MATTS AHRLIG- MF
Gundas FC
225 matches, 97 points,
42 goals, 55 assists,
45 x-11s
Old number 9 for the Goons, Ahrlig's powerful left foot was feared across the northern division for 21 seasons. Ahrlig nearly finished with MVP honors in the season 50 mash-up season. The big Swede retires as the Goons' all-time leader in assists. He's also fourth in appearances, and 2nd in points, ahead of legendary Gundas midfielder Godfrey Woodman.
MAXIM ASAFIEV- D
Havoc
213 matches, 22 points,
2 goals, 20 assists,
67 x-11s (5 captains)
The big Russian, Maxim Asafiev solidified a fearsome Havoc backfield for almost two decades. During his tenure, Havoc reached the BSL semifinals four times, but unfortunately failed to reach the Championship game in each occasion. Asafiev retires as the club's leader in matches played, and he's second
in club x-11s.
LEONARD ASTROM- GK
Atletico Jersey
153 matches,
79 clean sheets
70% career save pct.,
10% career penalties save pct.,
48 x-11s (3 captains)
The 'astral' Astrom gave his heart for Pine Barrens for 20 straight seasons! Astrom recorded a clean sheet more than 50% of the time he took the pitch. He also ranks just outside the top 5 in franchise X-11 appearances, despite getting little help in the twilight of his career.
SEASON 59 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
EMILE COPPINGER - F
Venetian Reds
246 matches, 138 points,
102 goals, 36 assists, 91 x-11s (1 captain)
Emile "The Real Deal" Coppinger stuffed the stat sheet at Appalachian Mountain for an astounding 23 seasons. Coppinger's marks are so impressive, he leads the Venetian Reds in all-time matches played, points and goals at the time of his retirement. He was an MVP in season 50, led his division in points five times and goals scored three times. He was also the main striker on both Venetian Reds championship squads.
CLIFFORD ROGERS- MF
FC Roblar
218 matches, 135 points,
77 goals, 58 assists, 109 x-11s (14 captains)
Clifford "Captain America" Rogers holds a special place in both Roblar and BSL history. He led his division in goals five times and overall points six times. He was also the Season 57 MVP in a rugged Eastern Division. Rogers earned the nickname "Captain America" from teammates for his chiseled looks, blonde hair and a surname that matched the real life Steve Rogers. While he was no actual super hero, there's no doubt, Cliff left fans on the edge of their seats!
MICHAEL MCDONALD- D
Delirium FC
204 matches, 58 points,
26 goals, 32 assists, 66 x-11s (14 captains)
McDonald's flowing white hair and white beard/goatee graced BSL pitches for 20 seasons. Though he wasn't as popular as his predecessor in the DFC backfield (that would be Holland Oates), McDonald did capture a season 55 MVP trophy and finished 3rd in MVP voting three more times. I keep forgettin' his other accomplishments. If only Warren G was here to remind me...Think he shouldn't be in? That's what a fool believes!
AIDEN NORTON- D
FC Roblar
166 matches, 20 points,
3 goals, 17 assists,
76 x-11s (18 captains)
Norton is another player who departed Roblar early. Norton however, was sold on the open market and left to play in the 'MegaLiga' of what is now modern day Eurasia. Norton could have stayed in the BSL, however due to a massive oversight by the league commissioner, news of Norton's possible transfer was never relayed in BSL circles. At any rate, Norton departed at the peak of his career in green, but his numbers (especially the 76 x-11s in 166 matches) are still incredibly impressive.
URBANO RENALDO - GK
FC Borussia Berlin
151 matches,
59 clean sheets,
71% career save pct., 40% career penalties save pct.,
5 assists, 47 x-11s
The greatest keeper on Borussia Berlin history. Upon retirement, Urbano Renaldo returned to his native Brazil, to start a foundation for intercity youth, dubbed, Urbano's Urbanos. His best work may be ahead of him, but he no doubt had a phenomenal career.
SEASON 60 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
CHRISTIAN OLSON- F
Gundas FC
210 matches, 77 points, 57 goals, 20 assists, 44 x-11s
Christian "The Deuce" Olson played 20 seasons in Orange and Blue. Coming to the club at age 17, Olson finishes his career 3rd all-time in goals scored for the Goons. Olson was part of two BSL Championship teams and had a magical Season 56, in which he led his division in points and goals and captured MVP honors. It's safe to say, no one knew how to drop it in like the Deuce.
MONTEL ACEBADO - MF
Venetian Reds
208 matches, 83 points, 40 goals, 43 assists, 76 x-11s (1 captain)
Montel was an elite playmaker, and a fantastic distributor for a bevy of Venetian Reds scorers. Montel Acebado led his division in helpers twice in his career. Acebado ranks 2nd all-time in Reds' history in assists at the time of his retirement. He's also one of only 9 Venetian Reds players to have over 200 matches in his career.
FOUTS STUMBLEFOOT - D
San Diego Beer Company
152 matches, 26 points, 7 goals,
19 assists, 57 x-11s, (12 captains)
Named after Hall of Fame San Diego Chargers Quarterback Dan Fouts, Stumblefoot was contrarily quite graceful on the pitch. He only played 14 seasons for the Beer Boys, but what he did in those 14 seasons was quite remarkable. Stumblefoot won four consecutive division MVP titles from Seasons 53-56 and also finished as a runner up in voting in Season 51. Like a comet or an 'Air Coryell' deep ball from Dan Fouts himself, Stumblefoot's career beautiful rocketed across the sky, perhaps ending too quickly.
SEASON 61 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
ALBERT WOLF- F
FC Roblar
190 matches, 66 points,
50 goals, 16 assists,
73 x-11s, (2 captains)
The Wolf solved problems. There was no one better on the pitch in a pinch. At the time of his induction, Wolf is 10th all-time in matches played for the Great Roblar franchise. He's a multiple-time MVP winner and his 50 goals also rank in the top 10 in club history.
DERICK RAWCLIFF- MF
Venetian Reds
210 matches, 70 points,
30 goals, 50 assists,
80 x-11s (2 captains)
From the scar on the left side of his face, to his brutally fierce play on the pitch, Derick Rawcliff has always carried an air of toughness and professionalism with his play. A name like Rawcliff almost oozes a sharp, claw-like menacing presence. Rawcliff sank his talons of justice into opponents for 18 seasons wearing Venetian red. During that time, he led his division in assists twice and points once. Rawcliffe retires in the top five in Venetian Reds franchise history for both matches played and x-11 appearances.
GARETH BARTRAM- D
FC Roblar/Bluenoses FC
87 matches 15 points,
3 goals, 12 assists,
64 x-11s (4 captains)
On the field, Bartram played 15-plus seasons for FCR, and was a part of five championship squads. He was a 3-time BSL MVP for FC Roblar and he appeared in the x-11 36-percent of the time he suited up. He spent the twilight of his career with FC Bluenoses. Tough, disciplined, with a penchant for tall women and hair styling products, Gareth Bartram claimed victory in the BSL's only all-male beauty contest, back in season 52. While the event was a marketing and PR disaster for the league, Bartram did claim victory with his handsome looks, chilly demeanor and concert-level tuba playing during the talent portion.
COLM HILL- GK
FC Roblar
131 matches, 3 points,
3 goals, 41 x-11s
Hill was put out for transfer at age 36 after more than a decade of service in green and black. Because Hill was transferred before his keeper-specific stats could be captured, the BSL HOF doesn't have have a ton of information on him. Still, he made the x-11 more than 30-percent of the time he played. He also ranks 1st all-time amongst Roblar keepers for matches played.
SEASON 62 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
STEPHANE RAVEAU - F
FC Camus
159 matches, 72 points, 58 goals, 14 assists, 23 x-11s
Known for his chiseled chin and handsome face, the Ravishing Raveau was often overshadowed on the playing field by all-time great Nathanael Simonot. Still, in his career Raveau managed to rack up enough points for 4th on the all-time Camus list. He's also 3rd all-time in goals scored.
DEREK SOMMERSBY - MF
Delirium FC
200 matches, 71 points, 25 goals, 46 assists, 64 x-11s (5 captains)
Sommersby often played the beautiful game as if he only had one life to live, leaving it all out on the pitch on every match. Sommersby was a part of Delirium's miracle, season 49 championship run. He also led his division in assists, twice in his career. Sommersby retires 4th all-time in helpers for the Pink Elephants. In his post-playing career, he plans to take up acting in soap operas and has already landed a gig playing a TV doctor.
ROB FOGERTY - GK
New Belgium FC
199 matches, 58% save pct., 25% save pct. on penalties, 61 clean sheets, 47 x-11s (3 captains)
The greatest keeper in New Belgium history, Fogerty was the last line of defense for all of New Belgium's 5 titles during the club's dynastic run. Fogerty was a Season 55 MVP and managed 61 clean sheets in his career. Fogerty also made the X-11 nearly a quarter of the time he took to the pitch.
SEASON 63 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
ALEXIS RAY - F
New Belgium FC
209 matches, 82 points, 65 goals, 17 assists,
63 x-11s
The heart and soul of the New Belgium FC attack, Rey retires as the all-time franchise leader in matches played, goals scored and x-11 appearances. Although he never won an MVP award, Rey did lead his division in scoring one season (Season 52), and carried the load as the club's premier striker for New Belgium's five championships, including a historic four in a row from seasons 53-56.
PEDRO ROWE - MF
City Islanders FC
225 matches, 77 points, 45 goals, 32 assists,
31 x-11s
The 'Vote for Pedro' campaign swept social media, and for good reason. Pedro Rowe retires as the all-time leader in matches played for the City Islanders. At the time of his nomination, Rowe is also second in team history in points, goals and assists, while his 31 x-11 appearances rank 5th. Rowe is as close to a true franchise midfielder that City Islanders has ever had to date.
JEREMY WHITFIELD - D
Venetian Reds
259 matches, 74 points, 39 goals, 35 assists, 122 x-11s (54 captains)
Through a vaunted list of top-flight players, only the legendary Duane Hills, perhaps the best keeper in BSL history, has more X-11 appearances for the Venetian Reds than Whitfield. At the time of his nomination, Whitfield has played more matches for the Reds than any other player. Whitfield is a 7-time BSL MVP, and he led his division in points and assists in Season 57. Looking at the numbers, it's hard to argue that Whitfield might be one of the best defenders in BSL history.
EDDIE ANDREWS - GK
Genesee Screamers
177 matches,
58 clean sheets,
68% career save pct.,
12% career penalty save pct., 36 x-11s, (12 captains)
Few players have ever been more important to the Genesee Screamers franchise than legendary keeper Eddie Andrews. Andrews nearly single-handedly carried the Screamers to a Season 46 BSL Championship. Brilliant against the breakaway, Andrews turned away more than two-thirds of the shots he ever faced and managed to be captain in the X-11 a third of the time he made the list.
SEASON 64 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
MATTEUS ALVBAGE - F
Genesee Screamers
165 matches, 65 points, 50 goals, 15 assists,
22 x-11s
An incredibly versatile forward, known for his hard shot and strong headers, Alvbage served at the front of the screamers attack for 20 seasons. Alvbage retires as the club's all-time leader in points and goals. Alvbage was also an instrumental figure in the Screamers championship run of season 46.
ALCINO GRACIETE - MF
FC Roblar
196 matches, 81 points, 35 goals, 46 assists,
47 x-11s (12 captains)
Another intelligent midfielder in a long line of Roblar playmakers, Graciete has been the straw that stirs Roblar's attack for most of the last 17 seasons. The ever-graceful Graciete was also part of Roblar championship squads in seasons 50 and 52. He led his division in assists twice and points once. Last, but certainly not least, Graciete ranks 7th all-time in matches played for Roblar, which is clearly no easy feat to accomplish.
LOU SOLVERSON - D
El Paso Sol
202 matches, 24 points, 14 goals, 10 assists,
99 x-11s (39 captains)
When he came into the league years ago as a young pup, few gave Lou Solverson, a little known youth from Bemidji, Minnesota, much of a chance at making a BSL squad, much less ever making it to the BSL Hall of Fame. Yet, 202 matches later, here we are. Solverson has nearly 100 x-11 appearances to his name and he's been an integral part of three BSL Championship teams. Solverson is a 3-time MVP (Seasons 59, 61 and 62) and he led his division in goals and points once each (Season 62). In his post-playing career, he plans to go into law enforcement in his hometown.
JONATHAN SKINNER -GK
FC Unknown Quantity
148 matches, 42 clean sheets, 67% career save pct., 0% career penalty save pct.,
38 x-11s (1 captain)
In the grueling Northern division, Skinner stood tall in net for 21 seasons at Dark Matter. Skinner was instrumental in the Qs Cinderella Final Four run of Season 53, posting career-numbers that season. Other clubs called late in his career, but Skinner chose to stick it out for the black and white, helping to mentor the next generation of FCUQ talent.
SEASON 65 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
DIESEL CATAMOUNT - F
Tulla United
184 matches,
50 points, 37 goals, 13 assists, 54 x-11s
Standing at an imposing 6-foot-7 and weighing in at 280 pounds, Diesel Catamount was no doubt, one of the biggest strikers in BSL history. The Diesel was the engine behind Tulla/Evolution City scoring for 18 seasons. His 37 goals are 3rd all-time in franchise history. He also led his division in goals twice during his career.
ROB HEATH - F
Havoc
210 matches,
82 points, 68 goals, 14 assists, 21 x-11s
Rumored to be a descendant of the legendary L.S. Heath of 'Heath Bar' fame, Rob 'Sweetness' Heath delivered nothing but the taste of victory for 22 seasons in Havoc orange. In three particular campaigns, Heath was nothing short of magical. In three seasons, (59, 54 & 53) he led his division in points and goals. Heath's run coincided with five straight Southern division titles for Havoc (Seasons 51-55).
SIMON
SULLIVAN - MF
FC Roblar
201 matches,
57 points, 30 goals, 27 assists, 67 x-11s, (7 captains)
When it comes to prolific Roblar playmakers, Simon "Sully" Sullivan, won't be the first name that pops into your head. You might be surprised to know that in a long line of outstanding Roblar players, Sullivan ranks 6th all-time in matches played for Roblar. Crazy still, if Sullivan appears in every playoff match moving forward, he could finish as high as fourth all-time. Sullivan never won an MVP or led his division in a meaningful statistical category (other than send-offs) but he was a part of two Roblar championship squads.
TIMOTHY
MADDEN - MF
New Belgium FC
195 matches,
61 points, 24 goals, 37 assists, 53 x-11s (2 captains)
Madden was the man in the middle of a New Belgium attack that delivered five BSL Championships in seven seasons. Madden finished as a runner-up in MVP voting several times in his career and he retires 3rd all-time in assists in New Belgium club history.
MCQUEEN SUPERFLUOUS - D
Tulla United
246 matches,
28 points, 4 goals, 24 assists, 84 x-11s (18 captains)
Not much more can be said about the man known as "Numbers" McQueen "Numbers" Superfluous has exactly that: superfluous numbers. McQueen won back-to-back Division MVPs in Seasons 57 and 58. His 246 match appearances are a club mark, and his 84 x-11s and 18 captains would be good enough to be top marks on almost any other club in the BSL. Superfluous played in the Season 57 BSL Final, but was unable to bring home the hardware. Still, few were more dominant in the backfield than the man who put up the numbers.
NIALL COLBY - GK
Havoc
240 matches,
113 clean sheets, 71% career save pct., 27% career penalty save pct., 86 x-11s
(29 captains)
Few players in BSL history have done more to carry their respective club than Niall Colby. Colby is unquestionably the best player in Havoc history at the time of his retirement. Colby won two MVP awards (Seasons 54, 55) and probably should have won a lot more. Colby played for Havoc for a remarkable 24 seasons, starting at age 17 and playing until age 40. He retires as his club's all-time leader in appearances and X-11 captaincies.
SEASON 40 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
PERCY BRANHAM- F
FC Roblar
205 matches, 85 points,
61 goals, 24 assists,
82 x-11s
Consistently among the top scorers in the Southern Division for 11 seasons, Percy "don't call me purse" Branham was a mainstay atop Roblar's lineup. He finished 2nd in MVP voting twice. Branham retired as the franchise leader in matches played and is 6th in points and 4th in goals. He was controversially kept out of the season 39 HOF class due to a mistabulation at the HOF ballot box.
MIGUEL ONAGA - MF
Rossoneri
240 matches, 142 points,
82 goals, 60 assists,
56 x-11s
Onaga retires from the BSL as the all-time league leader in points with 142. Simply put, Onaga was one of the greatest playmakers the league has ever seen. Quick as a cat with a powerful shot and a delicate touch on set pieces, Onaga could do it all. He led his division four times in points, three times in scoring and twice in assists. He retires in second for virtually every franchise record.
FREDERICO DE POLI - MF
Rossoneri
258 matches, 99 points,
38 goals, 61 assists,
93 x-11s (2 captains)
De Poli came to the Rossoneri view their youth system at just 16 years old. Twenty three seasons later, De Poli leaves the Rossoneri as one of the cornerstones of the organization, and a first ballot BSL Hall-of-Famer. He was the season 33 International Division MVP. At the time of his retirement, he is the franchise leader in matches played and assists, and ranks third
in X-11 appearances.
VIRIATO DA COSTA - D
FC Roblar
201 matches, 73 points,
55 goals, 18 assists,
120 X-11s (71 captains)
What can you say about perhaps one of the greatest players in BSL history?
Da Costa, much like a fine burgundy, only got better with age. Of his 55 goals (and counting), 62-percent, or 34 of them were scored after he turned 30. Additionally, da Costa has won an MVP award in the last three consecutive seasons and nearly claimed the award two seasons before that. Had he done so, he would have won six consecutive MVP trophies. Da Costa retires seven shy of the all-time Roblar mark for appearances (208), and already far and away holds the club record for X-11 appearances.

SEASON 41 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
CHRISTOPHER GAVEN- F
Rossoneri
171 matches, 108 points,
84 goals, 24 assists,
68 x-11s (1 captain)
Gaven gave everything he had to the Rossoneri over his 18 seasons with the club. Under his watch the Red-Blacks won two BSL cups, including one in Gaven's rookie season. Gaven is the club's all-time leading scorer and is second in overall points.
GLENN VROOMANS - MF
Forest Albion FC
251 matches, 112 points,
50 goals, 62 assists,
114 x-11s (10 captains)
"Vroom" could go - in fact, he had the stamina of a thoroughbred. Although never officially documented, it's possible Vroomans logged more miles on the pitch than anyone in BSL history. Vroomans' 251 matches are a Forest Albion franchise record and his 114 X-11 appearances are just four shy of the all-time BSL mark, held by Abraham Wilcox. Vroomans was also a two-time MVP and he currently sits two assists shy of the all-time BSL mark.
COLIN LEISHMAN- D
FC Borussia Berlin
193 matches, 35 points,
4 goals, 31 assists,
120 x-11s (16 captains)
Perhaps no defender was more dominant from a pure defensive standpoint than Colin Leishman. Leishman is a two-time BSL MVP and perhaps even more astonishing, Leishman finished in the top three in MVP voting in nine of his 19 seasons in the league. Leishman also led his division in assists twice. He retires as Borussia Berlin's franchise leader in matches, assists and X-11 appearances.
JERRY HODGES- D
City Islanders FC
139 matches, 17 points,
5 goals, 12 assists,
71 x-11s (26 captains)
Hodges passed over the BSL's Eastern Division like a comet; in just 14 seasons, Hodges amassed 71 x-11 appearances, including 26 captainships. Hodges won the Eastern Division MVP three times, and finished runner-up or third a total of three other times. When he was on the field, he could be dominant. He retires as the City Islanders all-time leader in X-11s and captainships and he was just two matches shy of City Islanders' all-time matches played mark.
SEASON 42 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
YOUNG-ROK JAEGAL - F
Cassino FC
180 matches, 65 points, 49 goals, 16 assists, 76 x-11s
(10 captains)
Could have been one of the greatest forwards to ever play in Big Soccer. Jaegal was sold midway through season 37 at the age of 35 before he was officially ready to announce his retirement. Because of this, many of Jaegal's superlative stats are no longer found on record. Still, when he played, he was among the most skilled at his position in the game.
AARON ROSENBERG - MF
Delirium FC
205 matches, 117 points, 64 goals, 53 assists, 67 x-11s (22 captains)
Arguably the greatest player to ever suit up for Delirium FC, passing the great Perry Van Shrike, Rosenberg roamed Huyghe Field for 19 seasons. In that time, he managed to set franchise marks for points, goals and assists. He retires just two matches shy of the all-time record for appearances (and one shy of the great Van Shrike). His 22 X-11 captains are also a franchise-high. Rosenberg led the Northern division in assists four times, yet never managed to capture an MVP.
MUHSIN GÜVEN- D
Full City Roasters
221 matches, 29 points, 7 goals, 22 assists, 74 x-11s (14 captains)
The first-ever player to be inducted for Full City Roasters, Guven has seen a lot in his 22 seasons in the BSL. When Guven entered the league, he was a fresh-faced, talented youth, playing for a club then-known as "Turkish Delight." Since that time, Guven grew with the league into a 2-time MVP. Guven is the Full City franchise leader in appearances, x-11 appearances and x-11 captains. He was a franchise player for the Java Men.
ERICH THOMANN- D
Rossoneri
210 matches, 22 points, 8 goals, 14 assists, 96 x-11s (27 captains)
Although he had a relatively quiet and unheralded career, Thomann, "the Big German," was a stud on the Rossoneri back line for 19 seasons. In that time, Thomann captured 3 International Division MVPs. Thomann retires as the Rossoneri franchise leader, among defenders, in matches played and X-11 appearances.
SEASON 43 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
TERENCE GRUBB - F
Tres Gringos
143 matches, 82 points, 66 goals, 16 assists, 29 X-11s
Grubb helped lead Tres Gringos to the season 30 BSL title. Additionally, Grubb was the Eastern Division top scorer in season 34 and finished 2nd multiple times. Although he only made the X-11 squad 29 times, Grubb recorded a remarkable 82 points in just 143 matches played. He retires amongst the Gringos greats, 4th all-time in points tallied, 2nd all-time in goals scored.
MARCUS MCINDOE - F
Atletico Jersey
144 matches, 60 points, 25 goals, 35 assists, 50 x-11s
With 144 matches, McIndoe ranks fourth in Jersey's career list. His 60 points are good for third all-time with the franchise. Always versatile, McIndoe led the Eastern Division in points and scoring in season 33, and then, after being called out by an opposing player for being selfish, led the division in assists the following season.
PETER JUSTINHUS - MF
Rossoneri
220 matches, 89 points, 40 goals, 49 assists, 42 x-11s
Justinhus is truly the last remnant of the great Rossoneri teams of yesteryear. Although his accomplishments fall short of other Rossoneri greats, Justinhus stuck around until the bitter end of the era, often shouldering the team on his back against great opposition.
JESUS QUINTANA - GK
Delirium FC
189 matches, 72 clean sheets, 70% career save pct., 54 x-11s (4 captains)
Let me tell you something, Pandejo, Quintana was the man in net for Delirium until his retirement. Quintana posted a clean sheet in nearly 40-percent of his matches. An avid bowler, Quintana retired to North Hollywood, Ca., to spend the rest of his days rolling on the lanes. Coincidentally, he missed induction day due to a bowling match that was moved because his opponents, Medina Sod, did not roll on shabbas.
SEASON 44 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
DAVE BOWER - F
Atletico Jersey
168 matches, 79 points, 64 goals, 15 assists, 60 X-11s
A two-time Eastern Division leader in points and goals scored, Bower was a Beast in the East for 16 seasons. Bower also holds the all-time club mark for points and goals and is second in club history for matches and X-11 appearances. From the Gazebo to Pine Barrens Park, few were more beloved in the Garden State.
IGNADO UNANUA - MF
San Diego Beer Company
118 matches, 67 points, 38 goals, 29 assists, 24 X-11s
Mr. Efficicent, Ignado "Nads" Unanua played just 12 seasons for AS Leucadia & SDBC. In those 12 seasons he managed 67 points for an incredible 0.57 point per match ratio. At the time of his retirement, Unanua was the all-time ASL/SDBC career leader in points and goals and he's the first member of the Sandy Side/Beer Boys to entre the BSL Hall of Fame.
TIMOTHY VANG - MF
Forest Albion FC
247 matches, 76 points, 33 goals, 43 assists,
85 X-11s (14 captains)
Vang was arguably one of the most talented players
in BSL history, reaching
17 skill at the peak of his career. Vang's 247 matches are also astounding as are his 85 x-11s. Though his skill didn't always fill up
the stat sheet to match his talent, there's no denying Vang was a marked man almost every time he stepped on the field.
HOWIE DEWHURST - D
FC Roblar/Hyde Park Rangers
183 matches, 18 points,
4 goals, 14 assists,
87 x-11s (12 captains)
Dewhurst enters the Hall of Fame officially as Hyde Park Rangers' first entrant. Unofficially, Dewhurst
blossomed in the Roblar backfield, only to twilight at the same position for Hyde Park Rangers. After being transferred via the BSL Expansion Draft, Dewhurst picked up right where he left off for HPR, yielding 22 x-11 appearances in four seasons for the fledgling club. With Roblar, Dewhurst was a two-time MVP, capturing those titles five seasons apart. Upon recognition of his second MVP, Dewhurst signed a deal with "Mountain Dew" soft drinks and revitalized the "Do the Dew" campaign
SEASON 45 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
LEON HENDRICKS - F
Delirium FC
192 matches, 93 points, 63 goals, 30 assists, 50 x-11s
And he shall be Leon, and he shall be a good man. That was what manager Rockafowla said to Hendricks when he joined the club 21 seasons ago as a 17-year-old youth. Hendricks ranks 3rd all-time in club points and 2nd in goals scored. He is also, at the time of his retirement, 2nd among the active BSL ranks in points.
PHILIPP
HITZLSPERGER - MF
FC Roblar
190 matches, 53 points, 23 goals, 30 assists,
66 x-11s (3 captains)
Hitzlsperger "The Human Pretzel" was a salty striker for years in the Roblar system. Hitz spent the twilight of his career with another legacy club, Goldstrikers 80, as part of the BSL transfer draft.
ADAN HOFFMAN - D
Reno FC
181 matches, 21 points,
2 goals, 19 assists,
74 x-11s (18 captains)
Perhaps no player is more single-handedly responsible for Reno's rise than Adan Hoffman. "The Hoff" helped lead Reno to the only two BSL semifinal appearances in FC Reno club history. Better still, Hoffman was a four-time BSL division MVP from seasons 38-41. He retires second all-time in club matches played and first in x-11 appearances.
GUILBUR ALVA - D
Forest Albion FC
203 matches, 91 points, 65 goals, 26 assists,
105 x-11s (50 captains)
Is Alva the last great Forest Albion hero? You could certainly say there will never be another like him. Over his 18 seasons in the Forest, the set-piece specialist netted 65 goals in 203 matches. Alva also won six division MVP awards. He's the ninth member of Forest's historic "200 match club" and his 105 x-11s ranks third all-time in franchise history.
SEASON 46 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
FILIBERTO TRISTÁN - F
Fort Ripley Bearcats
186 matches, 132 points, 95 goals, 37 assists, 65 x-11s
(3 captains)
Tristán retires as the BSL active-leader in goals scored with 95. In fact, his 95 scores puts him just 16 goals shy of the all-time league mark, set by Aiden Nielson. Tristán holds franchise marks in points and goals scored.Tristán also lead his division in goals scored six times, and in total points seven times, although he was never able to capture a division MVP award.
BUCK MARSHALL - MF
Full City Roasters
181 matches, 69 points, 39 goals, 30 assists, 52 x-11s (5 captains)
Uncle Buck Marshall was the preeminent franchise playmaker for Full City Roasters. Marshall is 3rd all-time in club appearances and 2nd in points. A marked man for most of his career, the Java Men bet heavily on Buck every time they stepped on the field.
FENG CHIU - D
Fort Ripley Bearcats
186 matches, 25 points, 3 goals, 22 assists, 68 x-11s
The "Fang" knew how to take a bite out of opposing clubs. Chiu's 186 appearances are a club record and his 68 x-11s are second in club history. Chiu also captured the season 40 Northern Division MVP award.
LYLE EVANS - D
Delirium FC
217 matches, 25 points, 5 goals, 20 assists, 99 x-11s (17 captains)
Who the hell is Lyle Evans? Those were the words first uttered by longtime Delirium colormap Pete Campbell upon Evans' historic first time on the pitch. Evans would show the elephant faithful exactly who he was over the next 19 seasons. Evans holds Delirium franchise records for matches played and x-11 appearances. Delirium has a storied history of defenders and no one was better for longer than Evans.
SEASON 47 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
ZICO MENDOZA - MF
Gundas FC
159 matches, 80 points, 47 goals, 33 assists, 28 X-11s
In addition to becoming the first BSL player to sign record-breaking endorsement deals with Zico coconut water and Zima malt liquor, Zico "Big Z" Mendoza was lightning quick on the pitch and delicate on the set-piece. Heading into his final BSL postseason, Mendoza is 2nd all-time in Gundas points and 4th in goals. Mendoza also led the rugged North division twice in points.
BILL PAYNE - MF
Atletico Jersey
187 matches, 66 points, 29 goals, 37 assists, 53 x-11s (3 captains)
"McIndoe and Payne and pray for rain." So went the saying many Eastern division teams have muttered at Pine Barrens Park for years, hoping a watery pitch would slow down the stout Jersey midfield; to no avail. Payne was a prolific midfielder for the Jersey Boys for nearly two decades. His 187 matches are a franchise record and his 66 points ranks third all-time in club history.
LUCAS TROVISCO - D
Forest Albion FC
174 matches, 23 points, 10 goals, 13 assists, 67 x-11s
Trirovisco's retired early at the age of 34, and perhaps could have gone much longer in his BSL career. Still, he was the elder-statesman of the Forest Albion backfield and did lead Forest to three BSL Championship cups.
FRANK BURNHAM - D
Evolution City
197 matches, 27 points, 5 goals, 22 assists, 127 x-11s (50 captains)
In his prime, Burnham was one of the best defenders in the BSL. His 127 x-11 appearances are second all-time in league history. Burnham was a 6-time BSL division MVP and at the time of his induction, is the all-time Evolution City leader in matches played, x-11 appearances and x-11 captains. Burnham's parents named him after a combination of Kevin Spacey characters, Lester Burnham from 'American Beauty' and Frank Underwood from 'House of Cards.' Coincidentally, a big Kevin Spacey fan, Burnham has reached out to Spacey about collaborating on a Frank Burnham life story film.
SEASON 48 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
MONTEL CIRCELLO - F
Rossoneri
198 matches, 76 points, 59 goals, 17 assists, 62 x-11s
(2 captains)
Montel ranks fourth all-time in Rossoneri goals scored. This is how he did it: rugged, unbridled play for the red blacks for 19 seasons. Circello also lead his division twice in goals scored. Following a career on the pitch, Circello plans to return to his native Italy to host a combination talk show/sports show in which he helps couples solve their marital disputes using metaphors from the latest Rossoneri match.
FRANCISCO COLSA - MF
Fort Ripley Bearcats
153 matches, 68 points, 31 goals, 37 assists, 51 x-11s
Francisco Colsa parted ways with Fort Ripley prematurely, when new ownership came in and moved the club to Evolution City. Still, Colsa's numbers are quite impressive and he ranks near the top five in his club in most offensive categories.
OWEN WENTON - D
Venetian Reds
179 matches, 25 points, 5 goals, 20 assists, 63 x-11s
You could make an argument that there would be no future BSL Hall-of-Famer Duane Hills without Owen Wenton. Wenton served as Hills' most trusted teammate for nearly two decades and also served as the Reds chief enforcer. Wenton led his division in bookings twice and was sent off four times in his career. He wasn't just a goon, Wenton could play as well, nearly capturing the season 42 MVP award in the International Division. Wenton ranks 4th all-time in VR matches played and 3rd in X-11 appearances.
DUANE HILLS - GK
Venetian Reds
204 matches, 93 clean sheets, 72% career save pct.,
129 x-11s (79 captains)
What else can be said about Hills? At the time of his nomination, he is arguably the best player to ever play on a Big Soccer League pitch. In 204 matches with Venetian Reds, he held his opponent scoreless more than 45 percent of the time. Off all the shots he ever faced, he stopped nearly three quarters of them. His 129 x-11 appearances are a Big Soccer League record. He won eight MVP awards, including six straight from season 42 through 47. He carried the Reds to nine division titles and two BSL championships in his tenure. All of that, and he was still sold as an 18-skill player at age 35. He also scored seven goals in his career, as a keeper. At minimum, he could have won at least two more MVP awards and possibly another title. On even his worst days, he was down right impossible to score on, and on his best days, he simply transcended the game itself.
SEASON 49 - BIG SOCCER HALL-OF-FAME CLASS
TAKEFUMI TAKANAWI - F
Boulder Sixty Niners
207 matches, 100 points,
73 goals, 27 assists, 47 x-11s
Quietly, Takefumi Takanawi had quite the remarkable career for the Boulder 69ers. The Japanese striker inspired the playing of a-ha's 'Take on me' at the Cauldron in Boulder, with the words obviously being changed to 'Take-Fu-Mi.' Takefumi led his division in scoring three times and tallied the most overall points twice. He retires as the 69ers all-time leader in matches played, points, goals scored, and x-11 appearances.
ALEXANDER
GRENANDER - MF
Venetian Reds
215 matches, 80 points,
43 goals, 37 assists, 70 x-11s
In a long line of star players for the Venetians,
no one has appeared in red, white and blue more than Alex 'the grenader' Grenander. Yes, his 215 matches are a franchise record, and he ranks in the top 5 in all statistical categories for his club. Greenlander also led his division in points
and goals in season 45.
LUKE NIQUET - D
FC Roblar
191 matches, 59 points, 26 goals, 24 assists,
83 x-11s (28 captains)
Niquet was an absolute terror on the pitch. Once he set up behind a set piece, as one writer wrote, "It was simply over." The long-time Roblar defender was sold to Bluenoses FC in the BSL Draft. His combined 83 x-11s would have played him 5th on Roblar's all-time list. During Roblar's season 43 title run, Niquet was the Man of the Match in every single playoff game. Niquet was also a 3-time BSL MVP.
MARGROTT MUNRO - GK
Havoc
144 matches, 61 clean sheets, 69% career save pct. 37 x-11s
For many years, the slogan at Havoc headquarters was, "We go, as Munro goes." Nothing could be more indicative of what Munro meant to the Orange H. Munro guided Havoc through a rocky rebuild and several rough seasons. In his final season, Munro carried Havoc to just the club's second playoff appearance in the last 10 campaigns. Munro's 37 X-11 appearances are a franchise record.
